The Giraffe Center is a non-governmental, non-profit making organization, with a focus on conservation and protection of the rare, beautiful animals.Through breeding programs and schemes, the center has over-doubled the population of the Rothschild Giraffe in Kenya It was founded in 1979 by Betty and Jock Leslie-Melville and has since been responsible for rescuing, hand-rearing and releasing around 500 orphaned giraffes.
